Gurubabila Temple improvement
During the Tsunami the villagers sought refuge at the temple. There were over 1000 people there and the facilities in the temple were not able to cope. The kitchen was far from adequate and the toilets were in sufficient. Even prior to the tsunami it was apparent that the young priests needed better living conditions.
Barberyn staff organized a meeting with a group called “the participants of the temple” including the temple priest in the hotel to ascertain what they would require to improve the facilities in the temple.
During this meeting the priest and the participants told Barberyn that recently there has been some theft from the temple. There is first an urgent need to build the boundary wall around the temple. The next step is to repair the well and improve the water supply to the temple.
A plan had been drawn up before the Tsunami with the help of Barberyn to improve the temple but the work had to stop due to the tsunami. This work is to commence soon.
